Hey, Gorgeous!

If you’re aiming high and want to know how to make $10k months in the beauty business, then these steps will guide you toward your revenue goals. New year, new goals—am I right? Whether you're just launching your beauty business or you're ready to elevate it to new heights, hitting those $10k months might feel like a big leap. But trust me, it's totally achievable!

Over the years, I’ve worked with countless beauty pros who've turned this dream into their reality, and today, I’m spilling the tea on the five steps to make it happen for you, too.

So, grab your favorite latte (or perhaps a cheeky glass of rosé 😉), get comfy, and let’s dive into the journey towards those $10k months!

Essential Steps for How to Make $10k Months in Beauty Business

1️⃣ Nail Your Niche

One of the biggest mistakes I see is trying to appeal to everyone. In the vibrant world of beauty, standing out is essential. That's why finding your niche is your secret weapon! Maybe you specialize in a unique lash technique, offer eco-friendly beauty solutions, or perhaps you create an unforgettable, relaxing experience for stressed-out clients. Whatever it is, owning your niche allows you to attract clients who are excited about what you uniquely offer.

When I first started, I tried to be a jack-of-all-trades, but it wasn't until I honed in on my passion for natural-looking lash extensions that my business truly blossomed. Clients who wanted that specific look started seeking me out because they knew I was the go-to gal for it!

What you can do: Grab a notebook and write down a detailed description of your ideal client. What are their needs, desires, and pain points? Why would they choose you over someone else? The clearer you are about who you're serving, the more effectively you can attract them.

Why Niching Down Boosts Your Beauty Business

If you’ve ever felt the pressure to appeal to everyone, you’re not alone. But here’s the truth: trying to cater to everyone often leads to watered-down results. When you niche down and focus on a specific area, you’re actually positioning yourself as an expert rather than a generalist.

Clients love knowing they’re booking with someone who specializes in exactly what they’re looking for—whether that’s volume lashes, natural brow shaping, or glamorous makeup for special events.

Why Niching Works:

  1. Builds Authority: By honing in on one area, you can master it fully. Clients searching for specific services are much more likely to trust an expert than someone who dabbles in everything.
  2. Creates Loyalty: When clients feel like you “get” their unique needs, they’re more likely to stick with you and recommend you to others in their niche.
  3. Increases Referrals: Satisfied clients in niche markets often know others looking for the same specialized service, which means more word-of-mouth referrals.

2️⃣ Build Your Brand Identity

A cohesive and authentic brand doesn't just look pretty—it builds trust and recognition. Think of your brand as the soul of your business. It's expressed through your logo, color palette, typography, tone of voice, and even the ambiance of your physical space if you have one. Consistency across all these touchpoints makes your business memorable.

When I revamped my branding to reflect a serene, minimalist aesthetic (because who doesn't need a little calm in their lives?), I noticed clients mentioning how my online presence made them feel relaxed even before stepping into my studio.

What you can do: Conduct a mini brand audit. Look at your social media profiles, website, business cards, and salon decor. Do they all tell the same story? Do they reflect you and the experience you offer? If not, it's time for a refresh to ensure everything is aligned and instantly recognizable.

3️⃣ Raise Your Prices with Confidence

Let's talk money, honey! If you're working your lashes off but still not hitting your income goals, it might be time to revisit your pricing. Many beauty professionals undervalue their services due to fear of losing clients. But here's the truth: clients who appreciate your expertise and the unique experience you offer are willing to pay what you're worth.

I remember feeling nervous the first time I raised my prices, but I communicated the added value to my clients—like my continued education, premium products, and the personalized attention I provide. Not only did most of my clients stay, but they also referred friends who were happy to pay for quality service.

What you can do: Calculate your desired monthly income and divide it by the number of clients you can realistically serve in a month. This will give you an idea of what you need to charge per service. Ensure your pricing reflects the quality and value you deliver. And don't forget to factor in expenses and desired profit!

4️⃣ Market Yourself Consistently

In today's digital age, visibility is vital. But it's not just about being visible—it's about being consistently present and providing value. Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook are fantastic for showcasing your work, sharing client testimonials, and giving potential clients a glimpse into the experience they'll have with you.

When I committed to a consistent posting schedule—sharing everything from lash tips to behind-the-scenes snippets—engagement on my profiles skyrocketed, and so did bookings!

What you can do: Create a simple content calendar. Plan out your posts for the week or month, mixing up content types—like educational posts, client transformations, and a bit of your fabulous personality! Aim to post at least three times a week to keep your audience engaged and your business top of mind.

5️⃣ Make Every Client a Repeat Client

It's no secret that retaining clients is more cost-effective than acquiring new ones. But beyond the financials, building long-term relationships with your clients is incredibly rewarding. When clients feel valued and cared for, they become loyal advocates for your business.

I always make it a point to remember little details—like a client's favorite music genre to play during their session or sending a quick message to see how they're enjoying their new lashes. These small gestures create a big impact.

What you can do: Develop a client retention strategy. This could include personalized follow-up messages, a loyalty program, or exclusive offers for returning clients. Also, consider seeking feedback to continually improve the client experience.

Strategies for Client Retention and Repeat Bookings

One-time bookings are great, but repeat clients are the foundation of any successful beauty business. Not only does it cost less to retain an existing client than to gain a new one, but loyal clients often bring referrals and tend to spend more on additional services.

Here’s How to Create Lasting Client Relationships:

  1. Offer a Memorable Experience: Make each appointment more than just a service by creating an environment where clients feel pampered and valued. It can be as simple as offering them a beverage or remembering small details about their preferences.
  2. Aftercare Tips: Providing clients with personalized aftercare tips not only shows you care about their results, but it also encourages them to follow through for optimal outcomes—meaning they’ll want to come back to you!
  3. Exclusive Offers for Returning Clients : Loyalty discounts, birthday offers, or exclusive packages can make clients feel appreciated and motivated to rebook with you instead of trying out the competition.

Bonus Gem: Invest in Your Growth

Never stop learning, darling! The beauty industry is ever-evolving, with new techniques, trends, and technologies emerging all the time. Investing in your education keeps your skills sharp and your services in demand.

I make it a point to attend at least one major workshop or course each year. Not only does it expand my skill set, but it also reignites my passion and creativity—benefiting both my business and my clients.

Identify an area you'd like to grow in—be it a new service, advanced technique, or even business skills like marketing or client management. Enroll in a course or workshop to invest in that growth. Your future self (and bank account) will thank you!

You've got the passion, the talent, and the drive. Now it's time to put these steps into action and watch your beauty business soar to new heights.
