While brow lamination has gained immense popularity, it's not without its challenges. Frizz or unwanted curls can happen if the brow hairs aren't brushed properly during lamination. Make sure to comb them in the right direction at each step.

Another cause of this could be from over-processing, which can lead to overly curly or frizzy brow hairs - definitely not the desired outcome for your client. Using a nourishing serum can also help stop frizz and get the hairs back to being strong and healthy.

Every now and then, some brow hairs might stand out after lamination because the setting solution wasn't applied evenly. To fix this, make sure to apply the solution evenly, covering all the hairs.

If any hairs still stick up, simply use a spoolie brush to smooth them down, or leave the product on for 1-2 minutes longer in this area.

Chemical burns can occur due to various factors, including; incorrect application of the solution, sensitivity or allergic reactions to the chemicals, using an expired product, and/or leaving the lamination solution on the skin for too long, leading to irritation and burns.

To minimise the risk of chemical burns; you may conduct a patch test at least 48 hours before the procedure if the client is worried they may be sensitive, and strictly adhere strictly to the products timing guidelines.

If a chemical burn does occur; rinse the affected area with cool water to remove any leftover chemicals and soothe the skin, advise client to apply over-the-counter burn treatment, such as aloe vera gel or an ointment containing silver sulfadiazine, to the affected area to promote healing, ensure the client avoids applying makeup to the burnt area until the skin has fully healed, make sure they only cleanse with a mild, non-sulfate cleanser and ensure to follow up with your client.

If you've accidentally pushed the brow hairs up too high during lamination, don't worry, there are ways to fix it!

First, gently brush the hairs back down into place using a spoolie brush. This will usually fix the issue - we don’t want your clients to look like they’ve been electrocuted!

If that doesn't work, you can tell your client to applying a small amount of hair gel or wax to hold them in their desired position each day. Remember to work slowly and carefully to avoid further disturbance to the hairs. If needed, you can also wait for the lamination solution to fully set and then trim any excessively long hairs with scissors for a more even appearance if absolutely necessary.

Client’s with naturally curly brow hairs can still have the treatment done, but it is important to note that their results will not last as long as someone with naturally straighter brow hairs.

You will need to apply a generous amount of the step one solution to the brows and leave it on for the longest time frame allowed with your products, typically longer than for clients with less curly hair. This extra time allows the solution to penetrate deeply and soften the stubborn curls.

Allow the lamination solution to set for the recommended time, but be aware that the results for clients with extremely curly brow hairs may not last as long as for others. The natural curl pattern of the hairs can cause them to revert back to their original shape more quickly, diminishing the longevity of the lamination effect.
